Sharing Fresh Food

Feeding Generations For A Healthier Tomorrow

The Food Share’s Campaign to Address Hunger in Our Community

Current Challenges

At Our Limit

As the need in our community has increased, Marion Polk Food Share has adapted our space and processes to ensure a swift and nimble response to provide healthy food to our neighbors who need it most.

We are out of space and are constrained by:

  • Outdated facilities that have created inefficiencies
  • Limited cooler and freezer space required for the increase in fresh and frozen food
  • Insufficient kitchens to prepare the 1,000+ daily meals for Meals on Wheels
  • Limited volunteer engagement areas for our 3,764 volunteers

Since moving into our current facility in 2005, we have DOUBLED the amount of food we distribute per year.

The Future Food Share

In early 2026, the Food Share purchased the former Don Pancho tortilla factory in Northeast Salem.

This 100,000 sq. ft. facility will have more efficient space for fresh and frozen food distribution, Meals on Wheels meal preparation, volunteer engagement, and emergency response.

The campaign for this new facility is an investment above and beyond the annual giving that keeps the Food Share’s essential programs operating for our community every day.

Nourishing Generations

Meals on Wheels provides a vital service for seniors facing food insecurity, nutritional challenges, mobility issues, and loneliness. Each meal not only nourishes with fresh food but also fosters connections for seniors with other community members and increases safety and wellness for a vulnerable population.

Increase Services to Seniors

  • Build a Meals on Wheels production kitchen with capacity to prepare up to 3,000 meals per day
  • Increase space for food prep and add larger equipment
  • Keep up with increasing need for senior meals
  • Increase senior nutrition services in rural areas
