Thanks to your generosity and support, Marion Polk Food Share’s Meals on Wheels program continues to serve our most vulnerable neighbors with more than meals.

For one of our neighbors who receives Meals on Wheels, our visits add a sense of rhythm to her daily life. “I have a morning routine five days a week now, I have to be ready to answer the door,” she shares.

After a significant injury a year ago, she was put on a feeding tube and has worked diligently towards her recovery. After having it removed, she found herself with an extremely limited sense of taste and almost no desire to eat or drink. With the added difficulties of being wheelchair-bound and having limited finances, the path forward looked difficult—until Meals on Wheels came into the picture.

“I am eating more regularly, and better food than I have in months,” she shares. “My weight loss has slowed, and I recently regained a little more taste. I could taste the peas in my tray. It’s a beautiful thing to have a meal to discover my healing landmarks, no matter how small or how far apart.”

The care that goes into preparing each meal is making such a difference for her, that she wanted to share her heartfelt thanks with everyone involved, including supporters like you. “All the team members that make the program work and keep it going in the tough times.  I am truly thankful to all of you,” she shares.

Your support ensures that our neighbors have the food they need to ensure their health and independence. Your generosity doesn’t just fill plates—it lifts spirits and restores hope.

Meals and Wheels would like to thank Community Development Block Grant funding from the City of Salem, The Reser Family Foundation and community members like you for supporting our senior neighbors.
