Frances Lara Alvarado joined the Marion Polk Food Share Board in 1993. She comes from a family of migrant farm workers and moved to Oregon in 1972. She has been employed for 30 years by the Oregon Human Development Corporation, where she has developed training programs and job search classes. She also provides farm workers with access to resources such as emergency food, transportation and housing.

Frances lives in West Salem where she enjoys gardening, dancing and spending time with her bichon frise dog, Rosita. She has two sons and seven grandchildren.
