Mother Lofton Helps Fill Bellies

By Published On: March 6th, 2012
Eunice Brown Lofton has a dream. She wants to help feed hungry people in her neighborhood.
Not one to sit around simply thinking about what she’d like to do “someday,” Eunice is forging ahead with her plan to open
Mother Lofton’s Soup Kitchen and pantry. Marion Polk Food Share has had the privilege of helping Eunice make headway while her church, Seed of Faith Ministries, completes construction of her kitchen.

We’ve been able to help in a couple of ways. Steve Morton, who manages the MPFS commercial kitchen operation, has given Eunice access to the kitchen so she can prepare her soup for distribution to hungry folks in the community. And Janet Spingath, our faith community liaison, has helped connect Eunice with Bob Fritz of Stitch’s and SonRise Church  in downtown Salem, which is helping to feed people in need.
Mother Lofton is keeping the fires burning while she awaits her new kitchen at Seed of Faith Ministries, 865 Medical Center Drive NE, Salem. Contact: (503) 339-7951.
