Share the Love to help homebound seniors

By Published On: December 23rd, 2020

This year, more homebound seniors than ever are relying on Marion Polk Food Share’s Meals on Wheels program for daily delivery of nutritious prepared meals. With many vulnerable members of our community sheltering at home, volunteer drivers are now delivering about 700 meals every day – about 40 percent more than before the pandemic.

For seniors and disabled adults in Salem and Keizer, Meals on Wheels is more than just a meal. One in four seniors lives in isolation, and one in seven suffers from food insecurity. Meals on Wheels delivery supports vulnerable seniors with nutritious food, friendly visits and safety checks, promoting health, independence and social well-being.

Over the past 12 years, Subaru and its retailers have helped Meals on Wheels to deliver more than 2.3 million meals nationwide to seniors in need. Now, you can help by participating in the 2020 Subaru Share the Love Event.

For every new Subaru vehicle purchased or leased through January 4, 2021, Subaru will donate $250 to the customer’s choice of participating charities. Meals on Wheels is one of four national participating charities, and as a member of Meals on Wheels America, Marion Polk Food Share’s Meals on Wheels program will receive a share of the donation from Subaru vehicles sold at participating retailers, including Capitol Subaru of Salem.

Even if you’re not in the market to purchase or lease a new vehicle, you can still help by spreading the word to your family and friends! Simply share this page or our posts about the Share the Love event on Twitter (@yourfoodshare).

We are grateful to Subaru and retailers like Capitol Subaru of Salem for supporting the seniors we serve. This holiday season, you can ensure our senior neighbors are not forgotten when you purchase or lease a new Subaru and select Meals on Wheels as your charity of choice.

*Disclaimer: Subaru will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased from November 19, 2020, through January 4, 2021, to four national charities designated by the purchaser or lessee. Pre-approved Hometown Charities may be selected for donation depending on retailer participation. For every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased during the campaign period, participating retailers will donate a minimum of $50 in total to their registered Hometown Charities. Purchasers/lessees must make their charity designations by January 15, 2021. The four national charities will receive a guaranteed minimum donation of $250,000 each.
