Wildfires cause extra hardship in already hard times

I can’t remember a year in my lifetime as tough as 2020 has been for this community. Already reeling from the effects of the pandemic, we then suffered the most devastating wildfire in Oregon history. As you know, Marion County was hit hardest.

Families — many already facing hunger — were forced to flee their homes to safety. Communities were devastated, and pantries and food distributions shuttered.

But thanks to friends like you, families in Marion and Polk counties have somewhere to turn when times are tough. Marion Polk Food Share mobilized immediately, delivering truckloads of food to evacuees at the Oregon State Fairgrounds.

It will be months before we recover from the damage of the fires — and the future with COVID- 19 is even more uncertain. But one thing is sure, your ongoing support will be critical.
